It’s always exciting when Hollywood comes to town and uses our local streets for their location shooting.

We know that Wandsworth Borough actively encourages film making and makes production companies very welcome – but wouldn’t it have been a good idea to alert local residents to the fact that their own lives and daily routines would be severely disrupted.

There were no notices or posters – as there are when skips are due to take up essential parking spaces for a few days or house removals are to be undertaken.

Complacency, arrogance, insensitivity, fear of protest – whatever the reason for no notice having been given is unacceptable and those responsible should be made accountable and they should undertake that it does not happen again.

Why, oh why, do people persist in riding their bikes on pavements? I’m sure Wandsworth by-laws are no different from anywhere else so it would be good if the Council encouraged its law enforcement officers and associates in the local Police Shop to actively stop bike riding taking place where it shouldn’t.

One day someone will be hurt.
